Maskandi meets Hip-Hop Festival 10 September 2022

The journey will finally come to a conclusion On September 10 of at Zuri Beach in Margate when we witness the final showdown of Maskandi vs Hip-Hop.

It took two rounds of auditions which were held in the month of August at the Margate Arts Museum to select the two Teams that will lock horns for the ultimate music genre showdown. 15 of the South Coast's best hip-hop artist along with 13 of the most talented Maskandi artist were selected to share the stage on the Maskandi vs Hip-hop festival.

The festival, planned and organised by us , The Innovative Talented Young Minds, is set to bring a whole new culture to the South Coast. We look to continue giving a platform to the local artists beyond the Open Mic Sessions which we hold twice a month where they give platform to passionate artist in the music and the arts sector. We came together as a group of young people who saw the need to come together and host events like these to further celebrate musicians in the area.

In. Tym Minds has been busy with marketing the festival in all their social platforms, securing sponsors and are aiming for the best response and turn out for the day.

When T2NECHI one of the Hip-hop artists was asked about his feelings on the platform that has been given to him through the Maskandi vs Hip-Hop and the Open Mic Sessions this is what he had to say: “I am really excited about it. Deeply excited because I feel like things are starting to show up, as a person who had a dream of being in fort of people making them listen and have fun with my work (music), that was my biggest dream. I am realizing that people are starting to notice me after all these years of being up and down attending shows, hustling and chasing the dream. Today I am being honoured for my work”

We would like to thank our partners who supports  Maskandi meets Hip Hop, namely CCIFSA , Ugu Maskandi Festival, The Music Shop, Zuri Beach Margate, 4 DA RECORD, RAY  NKONYENI Municipality.
